Thanks for asking—I spoke to Justin who wrote this part and he feels normalizing by miles is a deceptive metric—there’s actually a lot to say here so we plan to amend and/or write something separate on this soon!
But wouldn't a Waymo car drive much more than 2x the amount of hours/miles per day as a human-operated vehicle?

Yes. I was just suggesting they drive around a lot more than a non-autonomous vehicle and therefore would have a higher accident rate.
