A Visual History of Interpretation for Image Recognition
Image recognition (i.e. classifying what object is shown in an image) is a core task in computer vision, as it enables various downstream applications (automatically tagging photos, assisting visually impaired people, etc.)
In this piece, we provide an overview of the interpretation methods invented for image recognition, discuss their tradeoffs and provide examples and code to try them out yourself using Gradio.
